New Ceramics Books

Edmund de Waal -one of the countries leading ceramic practitioners, this new publication is a wonderful comprehensive survey of his career to date, featuring texts by Emma Crichton-Miller, AS Byatt, Colm Toibin and Peter Carey. It takes you through his ceramic career with a series of essays and analysis revealing the life of de Waal with thoughtful documentation of his studio, major exhibitions and installations.

Firing Thoughts explores the relationship between ceramics and drawing, profiling 21 makers and their diverse use of drawing as a preliminary stage to investigate ideas and themes, including Claire Curneen, Walter Keeler, Susan Halls and Lucie Rie.

Shaping Earth – brings together concepts and practice, with compilation of essays that illustrate a selection of international artists connection to the use of ceramics within architecture and industry. The book examines the relevance of large scale ceramics and the shifting context it occupies.
