This is a reprint of ‘South America’ first published in 1972 – the only Richard Long work that only has drawings: a small number of stylized motifs (sun circle, silhouette of a condor, spiral, etc.) were traced during a hike across South America with the help of natural materials found onsite (pebbles, gold dust, etc.) under circumstances that a short legend describes.
In an insert Richard Long describes this first big overseas journey he and Hamish Fulton made together.
