Interaction of Colour

Josef Albers’ Interaction of Colour was first published in 1963.

To mark the 50th anniversary of this landmark book, Yale University Press, the publisher of the original edition, has released the “Interaction of Color” app for the iPad, offering a fresh way to engage with Albers’ lessons.  To read more about Josef Albers and his work, visit the YUP site.

Otherwise, call in to the library, where you will find more recent editions of this work, as well as other titles such as ‘Painting on Paper: Josef Albers in America’, and ‘Josef & Anni Albers: Designs for Living’  .  Full details can be found in the library catalogue by following the links.

Vacation opening

Summer holidays may be here – but we are still open!

Monday – Friday 9am to 5pm

but closed for lunch 12.30pm to 1.30pm

(we are closed evenings and weekends and Bank Holiday Monday 27th August)

Image of the Week: Walter Gropius

Today is the anniversary of the birth of Walter Gropius (1883-1969) – German architect and founder of the Bauhaus School.

 This image (courtesy of Bridgeman Education) is of furniture designed by Gropius, now in Gropius House in Lincoln, Massachusetts, built in 1938.

The exhibition – Bauhaus: Art as Life is now on at The Barbican, London, and runs until 12th August 2012.

See the new self study display about The Bauhaus (books, DVDs and journal articles available from the library) in Howard Gardens Library from Friday 25th May.
