Please make a little time to check out a fashion database we have for a month’s trial until the end of May.

• It is called The Vogue Archive and comprises all the pages of all the American Vogue US edition from 1892-present as a fully searchable database.

• Images are reproduced in high-resolution colour page by page.

• More than 400,000 pages are included, constituting a treasure trove of the work from the greatest designers, photographers, stylists and illustrators of the 20th and 21st centuries.

• Vogue is a unique record of American and international popular culture that extends beyond fashion.

Key Subject Areas are

• Fashion

• Journalism

• Media and culture

• Photography

• Popular culture

• Textiles

Let Catherine Drake or Jenny Godfrey know what you think of it and whether it would be of use to courses here at Cardiff Met.

Here is the link.

Keep in Vogue for one month only

The library now has unfettered access to the Vogue archive for one month only.  From the comfort of your PC, browse through some historically and culturally important icons, designs and fashions from the late 19th century up to now.

With photographs from Irving Penn, Cindy ShermanTim Walker and Marino Testino, and articles from eminent writers and thinkers like Harold Rosenberg, Dorothy Parker and Aldous Huxley, Vogue archive will offer you and your students a wealth of material for arts, design and culture.  (If you are off-campus, you will need to login to the Cardiff Metropolitan network to access the above links)

The trial runs until the end of May.  If you would like the library to subscribe to this, please have a look and leave your feedback from our Vogue trial page.  Alternatively, email your thoughts to  cdrake@cardiffmet.ac.uk or jgodfrey@cardiffmet.ac.uk
