New Journal – Aesthetica

Aesthetica, a British art and culture magazine, engages with contemporary art, contextualising it within the larger cultural framework; it covers literature, visual arts, music, film and theatre.  Aesthetica was founded by Dale Donley and Cherie Federico (managing editor and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts).

The Cardiff Met subscription begins with issue No. 45 Feb/March 2012 and includes these featured articles:

‘Politics and Aesthetic Urgency’ – an examination of the transformative power of art in the 1980s.

‘Gender and Identity’ – Cindy Sherman’s retrospective at MoMA explores identity in flux.

‘British Design’ – the V&A showcases creativity and culture in post-war Britain.

Also included in each issue are reviews of exhibitions, books, DVDs and music.  The most recent issue can be seen in the current journals display in Howard Gardens library, and back issues will be located in the ‘Blue’ Journals room.

The Aesthetica blog keeps you up-to-date with reviews and previews, both from the UK and abroad.
